Sutton Hoo

Description

My interpretation of the person buried in Mound 1 at Sutton Hoo. Mainly based on reconstructions. The Sutton Hoo-burial is closely related to those from the Scandinavian Vendel-era. One of my favourite thing about the helmet is that the eyebrow above one of the eye, has gold foil. Which means that in a dark space, this would catch and reflect light sources, such as fire. This would create a powerful image, with an armoured king with one eye.
The shield as some cool things on it, here depicted quite poorly. The most unique, would be the dragon. It's the only dragon (that I know of) to be depicted like the dragon is described i Beowulf, with lots of wings.
This is also another step in playing with photoshop.
I recommend everyone who enjoy artefacts from this time to like the group Wulfheodonas on facebook. Most of my reference material is from that page.
